It is with heavy hearts that we have decided to cancel our Fall 2020 soccer season.
COVID-19 quarantine mandates from the town, county, and state as well as the phases instituted by National AYSO have made it difficult to plan for anything. We would have to double our volunteer staff not only to coach and referee, but also to clean every piece of equipment every night after it had been used. We were required to have players social distance anywhere from 6 to 10 feet, depending on the phase we would be in. We would not have been able to have traveling teams and would have to control how many teams/players could be on any given field at any given time. In addition to the mandates, the Town of Wickenburg for the first time in my now 15 years with Wickenburg AYSO has decided to October 11 through November 11 out of our season to re-seed the fields. That would shorten our season and only give us a week after re-seeding to complete. I know there will be families that will be upset with our decision and we apologize. We did post for your feedback on our Facebook page with very little comments received. We want to thank those who did respond in helping us to come to a final decision.
For those who had registered and paid back in June when online registrations opened, we will be refunding you in full via a check to the address on file. For those who registered and are on hold, we will cancel the registration.
Moving ahead, we have reserved the fields for the Fall 2021 season from the end of August into December to allow for re-seeding.
